Our Work
We recently facilitated the acquisition of a company on behalf of LJA Engineering, to further progress their growth and expansion across the US. Read more below:
LJA Engineering aimed to expand their presence in the Southeast after a successful entry into Florida, with the goal to find a fast-growing, innovative team in Georgia to support their strategic expansion.
This partner needed to have a strong local presence, an innovative approach, and the potential to scale operations significantly. They sought a firm that could seamlessly integrate with their strategic vision and infrastructure.
Ryan, one of our co-founders, identified Alliance, a young and rapidly growing engineering and surveying firm north of Atlanta. Led by a dynamic team, Alliance had made a name for themselves in the local market and were looking for a larger partner to provide the necessary platform and infrastructure to scale from 30 staff and one office to multiple offices with over 100 staff.
Understanding both parties' needs and aspirations, we facilitated the introduction between Alliance and LJA. The Blakely Brown team managed communications, aligned expectations, and guided both firms through the process. This collaborative effort culminated in a successful onboarding in November 2022.
Since the partnership, the LJA team has expanded significantly across Georgia. They now boast a robust staff supporting seven offices across the Atlanta metro area, with a clear plan to continue growing and dominating the market.
The partnership allowed both firms to mutually benefit each other's growth, showcasing the power of strategic partnerships in achieving ambitious expansion goals.
“Blakely Brown took the time to really understand our growth goals, operations, and culture. They used this insight to identify just the right firm for us to acquire—one that aligned with our values and integrated seamlessly. This move is already fueling our regional expansion and strategic growth.”

Strategic Shift in Semiconductor Production: Implications for AEC Executive Hiring
The U.S. decision to bring semiconductor production in-house marks a major shift in global supply chains, driven by economic and national security concerns. This move will significantly impact the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
Specialized Infrastructure Demands:
The rise of domestic semiconductor manufacturing will require advanced fabrication plants, increasing demand for firms with specialized construction capabilities and roles in engineering and construction.
Competitive Talent Acquisition:
Competition for skilled professionals will intensify, requiring versatile project managers and specialized contractors adept in both high-tech and traditional construction methods.
Key Strategies:
Enhance Employer Branding: Showcase involvement in semiconductor projects.
Leverage Technology: Utilize AI-driven talent analytics and virtual reality assessments.
Engage Executive Search Firms: Partner to acquire top talent.
Government Support and Long-Term Opportunities:
Government investment, highlighted by the bipartisan infrastructure bill, creates opportunities for AEC firms to collaborate with tech companies and research institutions.
In conclusion, the U.S. shift to domestic semiconductor production offers transformative opportunities for the AEC industry. Strategic positioning and attracting the right talent will be key to success in this national initiative. Stay informed and adaptable to lead in tomorrow’s AEC industry.
Team Update
Earlier this summer we welcomed two new starters to the Blakely Brown team: Molly and Antonia.
Molly joined us as Operations Manager after graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. Having previously worked with one of our Co-Founders, Ross Lienau, we were confident that Molly would be a valuable addition. She has quickly adapted, gaining insights into the US engineering market and efficiently managing the day-to-day operations of our business.
Antonia joined us as Marketing Manager and Design Consultant, bringing over two years of experience from marketing agencies in London and Birmingham. She has taken charge of Blakely Brown's online presence and has been actively reaching out to candidates across the states. Antonia has also been working closely with Ryan Allwood to develop her understanding of the Land Development engineering market.
We are excited to have Molly and Antonia on board and look forward to their contributions to our continued success.
